Walking data by location and day 2024 - open data

Stirling Council currently have 25 sensors deployed in the local Stirling area and Balfron. These devices gather walking and cycling activity data.


This dataset is a summary of activity, per day, across the entire year, for each of the measured locations. The following attributes are available within the table of data;

  • SiteID - unique device ID
  • Location - simple location description
  • Postcode - calculated postcode for the device location
  • DateStart - each day of data captured
  • Day, and Month - sorted into time-series order
  • Class - activity type
  • CountSum - sum of detected activity
  • PercentageChange - % change from previous day's CountSum (activities)
  • X, and Y - calculated coordinates of device.
Please note; some devices have been moved/removed and therefore the data for each may not span the entire year. In addition, where a fault may have occurred, a device can return a range of nil activity.

A table of data summarising activity trends by month is also available.
