Stirling Council
Local authority for the Stirling Council areaPollinator strategy area (maintenance) land services - open data
Land Services carries out grass cutting operations across the Stirling Council area. This dataset details information regarding both open space maintenance and those areas identified, and managed, as part of Stirling Council's Pollinator Strategy.
Improved greenspaces are vital for people to bring them closer to nature, and provide physical and mental well-being benefits. Stirling Council’s Pollinator Strategy 2023 – 2028 has been approved by the Environment, Transport and Net Zero Committee as a pillar of Stirling’s attempts to tackle the global climate crisis, providing higher quality greenspaces across Stirling.
Insects such as bees, butterflies and beetles are expected to thrive as a result of changes to the Council’s grassland management.
Whilst the majority of the grass areas Stirling Council maintains is owned by the authority, a large portion of grass cutting operations currently maintain areas Stirling Council has no responsibility for. Such areas are under review.
The dataset's schema includes;
- Site name, locality, and town information
- Feature (Grass) Type and Maintenance descriptions.
- Feature Group - whether the area is managed as open space or as a pollinator site.
- Council Title information - if an area intersects with information within our Title Deeds dataset, this will be shown here.
- Community Council and Ward information.
- Postcode - predominate postcode of an area (some areas straddle multiple postcodes but only one is shown)
Please Note: the council title deed information is just for reference and should not be used as a definitive record for an area.
